My trip to the grocery store last Sunday reminded me why I avoid shopping on the weekends – it’s packed with people! The benefit to me, though, is that my husband watches the baby while I shop solo. This affords me time to sift through coupons, check items off my list, and
peruse new product offerings, rather than racing down aisles as if on a grocery shopping game show with only 2 minutes to stuff everything possible into the cart before baby has a meltdown.

I planned ahead, taking coupons from the BlogHer Conference, as well as the nifty customized ones from Fry’s Marketplace. Steve shopped at Costco earlier Sunday and had already purchased halibut and pork chops for the next few nights’ dinners.
Here are the (mostly) healthy foods that I bought.
Produce
Arugula
Spring lettuce mix
Avocados
Baby carrots
Deli
Sabra hummus
Hormel natural deli turkey
Bakery
Orowheat stone ground 100% wheat bread

I saved $10.81 with manufacturers’ coupons and $20.41 with my Fry’s VIP card, and ended up with a bill totaling $77.
Disclosure: I work closely with Tostitos, and used free or discounted manufacturers’ coupons for the products with asterisks. No one compensated me to include them in this post.
