Most of you already know the story. For the past 4 weeks, I competed in a blog-off for SELF in the hopes of becoming their next Eat Like Me blogger. Four nutritionists, including myself, blogged to strut our stuff and display to the world everything we ate. The reader feedback I received was really favorable. I figured I had a pretty good shot. But Sarah-Jane won (congrats) with the most number of reader votes. It is what it is.
I found out the news 30 minutes before presenting a webinar to over 750 people, while chasing after my daughter to get her ready for the babysitter, and throwing clothes into my suitcase before a fun weekend getaway. I didn’t have time to be sad. Of course I was disappointed – this was something I really wanted. It just didn’t happen.
A couple hours later, on the way to the airport, my brain started to churn. How could I take this valuable experience and turn it into something even more fabulous? I decided to start blogging on my own website much more frequently and deliver what my readers were asking for. Your comments and suggestions have been rolling in, and I’m taking note. You loved my honesty. The good. The bad. The ugly. Since many of you are ELM fans, too, I’m trying to determine how to take what I enjoyed about that blog and shape it into something new. This is what I’m thinking:
1. Continue to post photos of all of my meals on my Facebook page. I know some of you might not get a chance to read the blog everyday, but still love getting new ideas from my quick snapshots.
2. Mondays, I’ll post a weekend wrap-up on the blog. This is where some of my most real and honest moments will be revealed when I step away from my healthy kitchen bubble.
3. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, I’ll post once daily, showing everything I ate the day before, including meals and snacks. This will be really telling I think, with nowhere for me to hide. In a good way. For you, at least.
4. On occasion, I will pop in a special Saturday bonus report on a topic you’ve been asking about, or one that I fancy.
Then throughout all of these posts, I’ll scatter in bargain and eco-friendly tips as they come. I’ll also let you know which of these foods Scarlet eats with me, so that those of you with children may be inspired to serve these to your cutie pies, as well. Please let me know your thoughts on all of this, either here or on Facebook.
To make things interesting, I have a cute and very nice Trudeau travel mug I’ll give away to one lucky, random winner who comments. Let’s makes this the best blog ever!
Disclosure: The mug is from a friend of mine who works for Trudeau.
